Smart medicine thanks to electronics

Medicine meets electronics: At the electronica Medical Electornics Conference (eMEC) on November 15, 2018 in Munich, physicians and electronics engineers will discuss the medicine of the future for the first time. Organisers are Messe München and Weka Fachmeiden as part of electronica.

Medicine without electronics? Hard to imagine! The health system is also changing and increasing digitalisation is already leaving its mark. The vision "Medicine 4.0" – from electronic patient records (ePA) to intelligent neuroprostheses –  will not become reality without sensors, mobile devices and secure software solutions. All this is the task of electronics, but in the end patients and medical staff decide what will prevail. Communication is the miracle cure that prevents expensive devices from becoming dusty without being used.

Smart healthcare needs communication

The electronica Medical Conference (eMEC), jointly organised by Messe München and the market-leading media brands Medical+electronics, Electronics and Market&Technology of Weka Fachmedien as part of electronica 2018 on 15 November 2018 in Munich, will provide a platform for mutual exchange for the first time in 2018.

In addition to classical keynotes and lectures, innovative discussion formats should bring both sides together - at eye level and in the same language:
Panel discussions with active involvement of the audience offer the perfect platform for a controversial and result-oriented dialogue.

  • Openspace discussions - intensive discussions in small groups - do not follow a »script«; process and result open until the end.
  • »Date a Problem« is the motto when physicians and electronics engineers not only find a common problem, but also discuss it extensively on site and find a solution together.
  • At »Pro&Con« two people go into a public exchange of blows. Who has the better arguments? This is decided by the audience through a digital voting!

Answers instead of questions

What's the latest in Surgery 4.0? What options does Smart Health offer? What are the challenges of cyber security in hospitals? Are robots colleagues or competitors? The eMEC 2018 not only poses these questions, it also answers them - from both the electronics and medical sides. The range of topics includes: Smart Medical Devices, Cloud Computing, Data Security and Sovereignty, Blockchain Technologies, Collaborative Robots, Smart Contracts, Usability, Artificial Intelligence, Telemedicine and Medicine 4.0.

Concentrated competence from all areas

The program committee includes:

  • Chair: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Oliver Hayden (Heinz Nixdorf Chair of Biomedical Electronics Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Technical University Munich)
  • Prof. Dr. med. Siegfried Jedamzik (Managing Director Bayerische Telemdallianz)
  • Dipl.-Vw. Hans-Peter Bursig (Managing Director ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association)
  • Josef Lechner (Senior Sales Director EMEA at Analog Devices)
  • Steven Dean (Global Business Development Executive at ON Semiconductor)
  • Dipl.-Ing. Reinhard Keil (Managing Director arm Deutschland GmbH)
  • Dipl.-Inf. Marc Schieder (CIO & Managing Director at Dracoon GmbH)

The eMEC is part of the electronica Conferences and will take place on 15 November 2018 as part of electronica 2018 at the ICM-International Congress Center Munich.
