Senior monitoring: camera detects falls and calls for help

Kami Vision presented an AI-supported surveillance camera for home care in Las Vegas. The "Fall Detect Camera" combines state-of-the-art fall detection with professional 24/7 monitoring and direct connection to emergency services. The system detects falls with an accuracy of 99.5 percent and is designed to identify falls even when people are partially concealed.

The high-resolution 4-megapixel camera has an 87-degree angle of vision and 360-degree rotation capability and enables reliable monitoring even in the dark thanks to infrared night vision. If falls are detected, family members and carers are notified in real time via app, text message or phone call. If there is no response, the nearest emergency services are automatically alerted via a Rapid SOS platform.

Prevention through analysis of movement patterns

The long-term analysis of movement patterns should also be particularly helpful for medical care: Kami Vision also analyzes events prior to a fall and can thus identify behavioural patterns that indicate an increased risk of falling. This enables doctors and nursing staff to take preventative measures. When falls are detected, the camera automatically saves one-minute video sequences in the cloud for 30 days so that medical staff can analyze the exact circumstances.

Fall detection costs 99 dollars initially, but then requires an additional monthly subscription of 45 dollars for permanent monitoring. Kami Vision is aiming for FDA certification and wants to enable older people in particular to live independently in their own homes for longer - while at the same time ensuring safety by providing rapid assistance in an emergency.
