Digital diagnostics and monitoring: This year's focus was on AI-supported diagnostic systems in particular, which enable more precise and earlier detection of diseases. Noteworthy are, for example, developments in the field of contactless vital signs monitoring, which use thermal imaging and millimeter-wave radar technology to achieve hospital-equivalent accuracy.

On the one hand, this is really good news for patients and for prevention in (still) healthy people - on the other hand, the digital health products presented cannot simply be bought and used. In most cases, using them is like falling into a never-ending subscription trap. Anyone who has their vital data analyzed via devices and thus the cloud has to pay for it.

Next Generation Telemedicine

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show, it is clear that telemedicine could develop into a holistic "home hospital" application that seamlessly combines home care and hospital care. Intelligent remote monitoring systems would then enable more efficient care and at the same time relieve the burden on medical staff.

Focus on cyber security: With increasing digitalization, cybersecurity for medical devices is becoming a crucial part. New AI-supported security solutions must integrate seamlessly into manufacturing and, depending on the application, also meet global compliance standards such as MDR, FDA and HIPAA.

Market Potential of Digital Health

The global digital health market is expected to grow from USD 180.2 billion in 2023 to USD 549.7 billion by 2028. This development will be driven in particular by the integration of AI and advanced sensor technologies.

With its »Health at Home« focus, within which digital health providers and medical device manufacturers as well as Samsung's Head of Digital Health spoke, CES 2025 underscores the shift towards holistic, digitalized healthcare in the context of »Smart Living«. The relocation of the healthcare area to the Venetian Expo also highlighted the growing importance of medicine for the electronics industry. (uh)
