A ring to sleep in: VIV sounds with AI

At CES 2025, VIV Health presented its VIV Ring, which the manufacturer claims is the world's first smart ring with generative sleep support. Similar to its competitors, the South Korean start-up initially continuously records and analyzes biometric signals such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, heart rate variability and stress levels.

One innovation is the integration of natural sounds such as ocean waves, deep-sea acoustics and forest sounds, which are combined with monaural and binaural sounds. An AI algorithm analyses the biometric data and sleep patterns collected by the ring to generate personalized audio sequences to improve sleep quality.

Wearable alternative with deep-sea sounds to help you fall asleep

The ring's waterproof design features a concave center to protect against scratches and diamond-cut edges. In contrast to competitor products, VIV uses a special sensor technology that promises increased wearing comfort. An iOS version is already available and the ring is due to be launched in February. The ring synchronizes seamlessly with Apple Health and is positioned as an alternative to existing providers such as Oura and the Samsung Galaxy Ring. Of particular interest to the medical sector: VIV Health is working with Gangnam Severance Hospital on clinical studies for approval as a medical device. A Pro version of the ring, which can also measure blood pressure and atrial fibrillation, is due to follow at the end of 2025.
