Managing Director Florian Hermle outlines what this future will look like: Balluff has been designing automation for more than 50 years, has applied this experience to the change to IIoT and today offers all necessary solutions from data generation to transport and evaluation. Balluff is very strong in hardware, connectivity and data visibility. The data create transparency and make visible what happens when and why in production.
According to Hermle, Balluff will in future focus more strongly on software in order to deliver even better integrated automation solutions from a single source. "That's why we integrated the software company ISS Innovative Software Services and the machine vision pioneer Matrix Vision into the group in 2017," says Hermle. "This know-how will help us to make even better and faster use of the great growth opportunities offered by digitalization and to expand our portfolio in both hardware and software".
The aim is…
...to bring technology, software and external partners together in an open ecosystem in order to further increase customers' competitiveness and support them from integration to data analysis and diagnosis. The external partners could be big data specialists, suppliers, producers or component manufacturers. This results in solutions that accompany the entire value-added process from warehouse management and purchasing through asset management to smart production and enable more efficient processes. The solutions can be used on a single machine in a machine park or even across companies. "The customer is always master of the situation and - even more importantly - master of his data," emphasizes Hermle.
