BorgWarner has entered into a strategic partnership with Manufacture 2030, a provider of software to reduce CO2 emissions. The aim of the collaboration is to effectively measure and reduce the CO2 footprint of the supply chain.
Under the agreement, BorgWarner will utilize Manufacture 2030's extensive CO2 reduction expertise and specialized software to encourage direct material suppliers to reduce their emissions.
Manufacture 2030 will work directly with BorgWarner's suppliers to collect data on energy consumption (electricity, natural gas, etc.) in manufacturing. This data will then be fed into an interactive dashboard where emissions and commitment to energy reduction can be tracked.
The tool also offers the opportunity to share best practices for reducing emissions. Through its use, BorgWarner aims to encourage collaboration, accountability and commitment from its suppliers to reduce emissions.
In this way, BorgWarner aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 25 % by 2030.
»BorgWarner is excited to partner with Manufacture 2030 and leverage the decarbonization tools they offer. Reducing the carbon footprint of our suppliers is an important step in creating a clean and sustainable future for all,« said Volker Weng, Vice President of BorgWarner and President and General Manager, BorgWarner Drivetrain and Battery Systems, Environmental Sustainability Lead. »By making this software available to our suppliers, they can measure, track and reduce their emissions. This in turn allows us to reduce our Scope 3 emissions footprint.«
