Zebra Technologies is acquiring Matrox Imaging, the machine vision division of Matrox operating under the name Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd. The two companies have now signed a share purchase agreement to this effect.
The Matrox Video division (Matrox Graphics Inc.) is not part of the transaction and will remain under the ownership of Lorne Trottier, President and Co-Founder of Matrox. The headquarters of Matrox Imaging Division and Matrox Video Division will remain in Montreal.
"Combining Matrox Imaging's technical expertise with Zebra Technologies' global presence creates an opportunity for Matrox Imaging to accelerate its long-term strategic plan," explains Lorne Trottier. "With its complementary portfolio for machine vision and fixed industrial scanning, Zebra Technologies will be an excellent home for Matrox Imaging."
Zebra Technologies operates globally in the field of automatic identification and data capture. "Matrox Imaging brings deep expertise that will strengthen our recently formed Machine Vision Business Unit and help us further differentiate our growing portfolio of machine vision solutions," said Anders Gustafsson, chief executive officer of Zebra Technologies.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval.
