On the following day, visitors of the summit meeting, which was organized with the support of sponsors Rutronik, WDI, and iesy, were able to take a look beyond the horizons of their respective disciplines - virtually imperative in times of digital transformation. Interdisciplinary cooperation and partnerships are necessary to accomplish the upcoming tasks and create complex systems that collect countless sensor data, analyze them, and are ideally also capable of learning, i.e., equipped with artificial intelligence. . This is exactly what the lectures were about: Matthäus Hose, Publishing Director WEKA FACHMEDIEN, and Prof. Matthias Spörrle from the Private University Schloss Seeburg gave an overview of the blessings and dangers of artificially intelligent systems.
The experts all agree that AI will radically change our lives and our work. Prof. Sacha L. Schmidt gave an outlook on the effects it will have on sport, how the disciplines will change, but also how the view of the spectators on sport will change, and how both will influence each other. As head of the Center for Sports and Management at WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Düsseldorf, he conducts intensive research on these questions.
The serious engagement with these topics, which will determine the future of all of us, formed the ideal framework for talking about the big and small topics that move the industry in a relaxed atmosphere in the generous setting of the B&O Parkhotel. But after the summit meeting, it goes without saying is before the summit meeting in 2019: then you will again have the opportunity to vote for your favorites in the "Managers of the Year 2019" election for Markt&Technik.
