"Innomotics" as new name
Siemens carves out motor and large drive division
Siemens is bundling its range of motors and large drive systems under the name Innomotics. The new company has been a separately managed Siemens subsidiary in Germany since 1 July 2023; the global carveout is to be largely completed by 1 October 2023.
As a new motor and large drive manufacturer, Innomotics brings together Siemens' businesses in low- to high-voltage motors, geared motors, medium-voltage converters and motor spindles, as well as related project and service support, under one roof. The operational headquarters of the company, which employs around 15,000 people worldwide and has a turnover of over 3 billion euros, is located in Nuremberg. The carveout in Germany was completed on 1 July 2023; the global carveout should also be largely completed by the start of the new financial year on 1 October 2023.
Innomotics will in future be made up of the previous corresponding businesses of the Siemens units Large Drives Applications and Digital Industries as well as the separately managed Siemens companies Sykatec and Weiss Spindeltechnologie. Innomotics' portfolio includes products, systems, total solutions and services. Innomotics also intends to work closely with other Siemens businesses in the future, for example in the form of product partnerships in the areas of technology, development and sales, as well as in the context of supply and service relationships.
"Through highly efficient large-scale electric drive systems, we can replace conventional, less sustainable systems and thus help our customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in turn - especially in areas where a lot of CO2 is still generated today," explains Michael Reichle, CEO of Innomotics." He sees growth potential, among other things, in development fields such as hydrogen production, shore power connections of ocean platforms or ships, and in the future field of water supply and treatment.
