PTC, a provider of software for digital transformation headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, has acquired pure-systems, a Magdeburg-based provider of solutions for managing product and software variants.
Manufacturing companies use pure-systems' "pure::variants" solution to efficiently manage the different variants of software and systems engineering assets across their product configurations. Some of the world's largest manufacturing companies use pure::variants to manage software and product variants.
PTC and pure-systems have worked together since before the acquisition. pure::variants is already integrated with and complements PTC's application lifecycle management (ALM) solution "Codebeamer" as well as PTC's product lifecycle management (PLM) solution "Windchill".
PTC expects the acquisition of pure-systems to underpin its leading position in the fast-growing ALM market, drive further growth in ALM and strengthen relationships with customers in safety-critical and regulated industries that are placing increasing emphasis on software in their product development. These include, for example, the automotive industry, aerospace and medical technology.
"The acquisition of pure-systems adds key capabilities to our ALM suite that are critical to manufacturers around the world," said Jim Heppelmann, Chairman and CEO of PTC. "Manufacturers are increasingly turning to software to differentiate their products and to develop different versions of their products to meet the full range of customer needs. In particular, automotive manufacturers investing heavily in software-defined vehicles need tightly integrated application lifecycle and software variant management solutions to plan and deliver the different software configurations of their entire vehicle line-up. We believe the combination of Codebeamer and pure::variants positions PTC as one of the leading software requirements, configuration, test and validation solution providers in the market."
