The LED industrial service provider Deutsche Lichtmiete reacts to the significantly increased demand in the Light as a Service (LaaS) sector and opens a new production site in Sandkrug. The facilities at the previous location in Oldenburg will be used to expand research and development.
Contrary to the generally cooling economy, the core market of German light rentals shows enormous growth potential. Industry experts assume that the global lighting market will continue to grow steadily over the next few years, that the share of LED technology will increase and that Light as a Service (LaaS) in particular will become significantly more important.
Therefore, the step in the direction of expansion,...
...as Alexander Hahn, CEO and founder of Deutsche Lichtmiete, explains: "The prospects on the lighting market are very positive for us. However, the strong demand for our LED solutions also requires an increase in production capacity. The new facility creates optimal conditions for this and is another milestone in our history". Hahn sees his company well positioned for the future.
Frank Dierssen, production and site manager Sandkrug, adds: "With the new production site we are able to increase our production output eightfold. We can increase our capacity at any time in line with market and demand by expanding the area, operating multiple shifts, adding more machines or changing production processes".
With a total area of around 5000 m2 ...
...a highly energy-efficient building complex for production, storage, logistics and administration was constructed in 15 months. The investment sum amounted to 5 million euros, and only regional trades were involved in the construction. The new location is located in the Sandkrug business park and offers an optimal infrastructure with its direct motorway connection. The stable skeleton construction with reinforced concrete, a building height of 12.20 m, over 2000 pallet spaces and the daylight-flooded production hall with intelligent lighting control ensure ideal production and working conditions.
Improved internal processes...
...and new, more efficient, partly automated production methods increase process reliability and quality assurance. An innovative VDE-compliant measuring and testing system for the finished LED luminaires and optimised delivery logistics are the focus of efficient lean management.
The power for the new location...
...is green and comes from a regional power company. In addition, the daylight-flooded rooms and the use of state-of-the-art LED technology reduce power consumption and CO2 emissions. E-bikes and e-cars can be recharged in the car park during the day via several stations. Behind the building, a natural wildflower garden with fruit trees provides a habitat for insects and ensures the well-being of the employees.
