Bavaria's State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy Hubert Aiwanger secured a total of six million euros in funding for Webasto's CEO Holger Engelmann during a company visit.

The sum granted by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs will be used in part to develop a roof system with integrated sensor technology for autonomous driving. In addition, the company plans to use the funding to develop a modular heating platform - with a particular focus on optimizing installation space and weight for electric vehicles. The automotive supplier calculates the cost of these projects at more than 20 million euros, six million of which will be contributed by the Free State of Bavaria.
