The Indian IT group TechMahindra wants to boost its business in Germany and has strengthened its presence in the country with a Makers Lab in Munich.
The "Makers Lab" is intended to support local customers in their business processes relating to digital transformation. At the new Tech Mahindra branch in Riesstraße 20 (Moosach), around 120 employees are currently working as process consultants, solution architects, programmers and digital coaches. Their number is expected to more than double within the next three years.
In the Makers Lab, research and development work focuses on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, 5G, Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Quantum Computing. Several groundbreaking solutions have already been developed in the Makers Lab, including "Hiro" (Home Intelligence Robotics), a mobile robot with a healthcare unit for which Tech Mahindra received the Economic Times Award 2017.
Tech Mahindra implements the model of the Software Factory of the Future in Munich at Telefónica Germany. The project aims at completely digitizing all business and development processes at Telefonica on the basis of a lean, sustainable and scalable platform.
With the opening of the Makers Lab in Germany, Tech Mahindra now has seven of these research and development centers worldwide. In April 2018, the global IT company worked with British Telecom (BT) to open the first Makers Lab in England at the Adastral Park Research Campus. Tech Mahindra Labs has also announced the opening of a lab in Dallas, USA at four locations in India - in Puna, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
