Tech Transfer Awards open for applications
The HiPEAC Technology Transfer Awards 2024 are now open for applications, and the deadline to submit an application is 30 September. You can apply via the awards webpage.
To reward and celebrate the transfer of research results into industry, every year HiPEAC gives out HiPEAC Technology Transfer Awards to selected members, affiliated members and students who work in academia.
In addition to a €1,000 prize (for first-time winners), winning provides an excellent way of promoting your research within the HiPEAC community and beyond, as well as validating your technology's viability in real-world industry applications. Winning projects will get coverage of their work in HiPEACinfo magazine, as well as being publicized on the HiPEAC website and social media accounts. There will also be an awards ceremony at the HiPEAC 2025 conference.
Examples of activities which demonstrate tech transfer include:
- technology licensing
- providing dedicated services to an existing company
- creation of a new company
- creating a marketable solution in direct response to the needs of a specific company
Please note that the proposal should concretely describe one recent particular IP or service that was transferred to a company with a monetary value attached. The proposal should also include the concrete monetary value of the transfer (e.g. licence fee paid by the tech receiver, investment made by a venture capitalist). Tech transfers that are not yet fully completed, as well as ordinary collaborations within publicly funded (e.g. EU) projects are not eligible for the award.
