TDK has expanded its SensEI edge intelligence portfolio with the launch of the edgeRX Pro, a new sensor node designed for predictive maintenance applications in industrial environments.

The edgeRX Pro builds on the company's edgeRX platform and combines vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature and rotational motion sensing in a compact IP67-rated enclosure. The device integrates a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), a magnetometer and a digital microphone, while edge AI processing enables analytics directly on the sensor node.

According to TDK, the new platform supports higher sampling frequencies, more advanced AI models and a broader range of sensor inputs than previous versions. The additional acoustic and magnetic sensing capabilities are intended to improve the detection of subtle anomalies and provide deeper insights into machine and asset health.

The sensor node can operate either from an internal battery or via USB power. When connected, USB power is prioritized, allowing continuous operation and supporting higher sampling rates and more computationally intensive AI models. In battery-powered mode, TDK specifies an operational lifetime of up to ten years, enabling long-term monitoring with reduced maintenance requirements.

By adding acoustic and magnetic sensing to the edgeRX platform, the edgeRX Pro addresses a wider range of predictive maintenance use cases. Potential applications include compressed-air leak detection, acoustic anomaly detection, rotational and alignment analysis, oil and gas leak detection, as well as rail component and bearing monitoring.

“edgeRX Pro gives customers greater flexibility in how they deploy predictive maintenance at scale,” said Sundeep Ahluwalia, Chief Product Officer at TDK SensEI. “By incorporating acoustic and magnetometer sensing, edgeRX Pro addresses a wider range of predictive maintenance applications. Support for wired power enables higher sampling rates and more robust AI models, while up to 10 years of battery life allows for scalable, low-maintenance deployments across industrial environments.”
