Siemens Takes Over IST
Siemens acquires Chemnitz-based Gesellschaft für Industrielle Steuerungstechnik (IST): On April 1, 2020, the company with its approximately 50 software developers is to be integrated into the Production Machines (PMA) business segment of Siemens Operating Company Digital Industries.
In addition, Siemens will acquire IST's commercial real estate. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
IST develops applications and services in industrial control and drive technology as well as electronics and mechatronics for controlling production machines. The company's products address the entire performance range. With the agreed acquisition of IST, Siemens is expanding its expertise and development potential for the Factory Automation business unit's products, solutions and systems in the growing market for production machines. The goal is to expand the Chemnitz development site as a competence center for motion control in production machines.
