The ready-to-use ‘Unigate Falcon Eco’ protocol converters from Deutschmann Automation can be mounted on DIN rails. They connect automation devices via a serial interface with a standard protocol (such as Modbus RTU) or a proprietary protocol to the desired Industrial Ethernet or fieldbus interface.
The ‘Unigate Falcon Eco’ series from Deutschmann Automation starts with variants for Profinet and EtherCAT.
The protocol converters are equipped with RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial interfaces as standard. Transmission rates of up to 6 MBaud are possible. The sending and receiving of data on the active serial interface is visualised by an activity LED to optimise commissioning or as a function indicator. The serial protocols Modbus ASCII and Modbus RTU (master & slave) as well as a protocol for ASCII communication are pre-installed as standard.
The standard serial protocols can be configured via a web interface. The implementation of additional standard and proprietary protocols is possible with the flexible script programming from Deutschmann Automation. Users can create the scripts with the free PC software tool ‘Protocol Developer’. The Profinet and EtherCAT interfaces are configured via the respective device description file (GSDML file or ESI file).
The protocol converters provide integrated service functions that can be accessed via a button on the front of the device. The service menu can be used to perform a hardware reset or a factory reset, for example.
The IP20-protected DIN rail modules measure 25 mm (width), 95 mm (depth) and 86.5 mm (height) and can be installed directly into existing end products. All modules for the different bus variants have an identical mechanical design, meaning they can be used flexibly or exchanged without additional effort.
