MikroElektronika has expanded its offer of wireless connectivity click boards with the »IrDA 4 Click«. It is a compact add-on board that can send and receive serial IR data.
The board uses the »TFBS4650«, an infrared transceiver from Vishay Semiconductors that includes a PIN photodiode, an infrared transmitter, and a low-power switch and meets the IrDA specification. The »IrDA 4 Click« also includes an infrared encoder/decoder, Microchip's »MCP2120«, which sends and receives serial IR data between the infrared transceiver module and the host MCU.
Click boards are a standard developed by MikroElektronika for modular prototyping add-on boards that allow users to add new functionality to development boards. Click boards allow developers to easily replace peripherals and shorten development time. The »mikroBus« standard allows any click board to be instantly connected to the microcontroller or microprocessor on a motherboard. Many microcontroller manufacturers such as Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices, Renesas and Toshiba are now integrating the mikroBus socket into their development boards.
IrDA 4 Click is supported by a mikroSDK-compatible library that includes features to simplify software development. The Click board is supplied as a fully tested product suitable for immediate use in a system with a mikroBus socket.
