The new Technology Roadmap »Next Generation« published by the ZVEI – Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) offers companies assistance for the digital age. It supports companies in dealing with topics such as artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0 or cyber security.
As a compendium the ZVEI Technology Roadmap is now in its fourth edition. In its current version, it offers a structured overview of many topics of digitization in the electrical industry. A first level of consideration is devoted to non-technical trends that influence the technologies and open up new fields of application, but also bring new challenges.
The special feature of the ZVEI Technology Roadmap »Next Generation« is its holistic approach and outlook. In addition to progress in the development of electronic components, it also takes into account software, material trends and aspects of production, as well as guidelines and laws and the corresponding fields of application.
The ZVEI Technology Roadmap »Next Generation« is 336 pages long and covers not only components – semiconductors, sensors/actuators, passive and electromechanical components – but also microelectronics, microsystems technology, printed circuit boards and layer circuits. In addition, aspects such as regulatory influences, software, material trends and business models are discussed and product development as well as research and subsidies are taken into account. A German version can be downloaded in PDF format free of charge from the ZVEI website www.zvei.org.
