Stellantis plans to increase its stake in GAC-Stellantis from 50 per cent to 7 per cent. According to the company, this is a key element of the plan to create a new foundation for the business in China.

GAC Group and Stellantis have agreed to jointly complete the relevant formalities of the deal, which is still subject to Chinese government approval.

GAC-Stellantis is a joint venture established in March 2010 by China Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC Group) and Stellantis.

In September 2021, Stellantis announced that it would create a simplified »Stellantis Jeep« operating organisation to further develop the brand in China. The joint venture is now able to support the efficiency of this integrated »One Jeep« strategy in China, which is focused on the Changsha production plant. Preparations are underway there for the launch of the Compass model.

GAC Group and Stellantis will continue to work closely together to grow the brand's profitable business in China.

Further details on Stellantis' plan for the Chinese market will be announced as part of the global strategic plan on 1 March 2022.
