The Augsburg-based robot manufacturer Kuka and the Munich-based automotive group BMW have signed a framework agreement for the supply of around 5000 robots for new production lines and plants.
The ordered non-collaborative industrial robots of different types will be implemented in the coming years at international production sites of the BMW Group worldwide for the production of current and future model generations. The robots will be used primarily in car body construction.
In addition, the delivery order includes other products from the Kuka range, such as linear units. These significantly increase the robot's working area and are controlled by the same controller as the robot, so that they can be integrated into the work process without additional equipment. The delivery order also includes energy supply packages developed by Kuka.
