Industrial and Building Automation Combined
Siemens has established consistency between its Simatic series (process) automation components and its Desigo building automation system. The Simatic S7-1500 HLK solution package, which consists of various software modules, serves as the connecting link.
Simatic S7-1500 HLK is designed to meet the requirements of complex industrial infrastructures and seamlessly connects the (process) automation components of the Simatic family with the Desigo CC building management platform. The new solution package from Siemens Smart Infrastructure enables energy-efficient HVAC control in industrial buildings and for demanding automation tasks.
Buildings for research, development, production, and storage often bring specific requirements for indoor climate and plant availability. Simatic S7-1500 HLK is intended to serve as a solution for the diverse automation tasks in such premises. Here, S7-1500 HLK and the BACnet-based Desigo PX building automation system can be seamlessly combined and uniformly operated in one building management system.
Simatic S7-1500 HLK allows free programming of the HVAC functions with the function-tested HVAC software modules according to ISO 16484-2-2 and VDI 3814. Engineering and graphical programming in the TIA Portal are continuous up to the Desigo CC management system for graphical visualization. Integration into SCADA systems is also possible. The HVAC solution supports the hardware variant for fail-safe and redundant operation. In the redundant variant, the CPU synchronizes via Profinet-IO ring or FO. Should a CPU failure occur, the backup CPU automatically takes over process control. Simatic S7-1500 HLK meets high security requirements through encrypted connections between the process controllers as well as regular updates and integrated security functions such as copy and access protection.
