As part of WEKA Graduate, developers can obtain comprehensive information on a specific topic. We continue our seminar series on 07.11.2023 with a training course on the Open Standard Module (OSM) soldering module standard. The company iesy is a pioneer and imparts basic knowledge and much more.
Solder-on-modules serve the trends of miniaturization as well as energy efficiency. For this reason, they are becoming increasingly popular when it comes to the design of embedded modules or baseboards. In this way, the more and more energy-efficient processors from leading manufacturers can be optimally used for the respective application.
The new Open Standard Module (OSM) standard from the Standardization Group for embedded Technologies (SGeT) has recently caused quite a stir in the embedded market. Ratified in 2020, it has since found many supporters. OSM modules are available in four different sizes, which makes them very flexible to use. In the meantime, there is a very large portfolio of products – and there are more and more to come.
However, by far not all embedded developers know how to implement the new standard – and are first faced with a riddle: What do I need when I want to design an OSM board, which regulations are there, which aspects do I have to consider for the layout or the power supply? For this reason, we offer the seminar »OSM – overview and baseboard design« with our WEKA Graduate Program. Speakers are Martin Steger and Martin Stelter from the company iesy. Particularly Martin Steger was very decisively involved in the implementation of OSM in his function at SGeT.
In the seminar, he provides the necessary basic knowledge about OSM – how the standard came into being, what sizes are available and what the general differences are between solder-on and plug-in-modules. In the seminar you will get to know the specification as well as the design guide, and you will also get an overview of the current OSM portfolio.
In the second part, Martin Stelter will teach you how to design a baseboard – and what to consider. In addition to hardware topics, the workshop also highlights software aspects, such as how to set up the right OSM development environment. Furthermore, we will show you how your first OSM project could look like by means of illustrative examples.
At the end of the seminar, you will have the opportunity to obtain a certificate as part of the WEKA Graduate Program. Click here to register.
