Anritsu expands its Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A with Release 17 features. Amongst others the new software options support 1024QAM and Tx Switching 2Tx to 2Tx for 5G device testing.
Anritsu has introduced new software options for its MT8000A Radio Communication Test Station to support 5G RF testing in line with 3GPP Release 17. The options enable the use of 1024QAM downlink modulation and Tx Switching 2Tx to 2Tx in the uplink path, both targeting improved throughput and transmission stability.
With 1024QAM, devices can achieve roughly 25% higher data rates compared to the previous 256QAM standard over the same bandwidth. The new uplink switching feature allows dynamic antenna selection based on real-time communication conditions, improving transmission reliability and speed.
These enhancements are aimed at 5G devices operating in FR1 bands, including smartphones. Use cases include high-bandwidth consumer services such as 8K video streaming and cloud gaming, as well as business-critical applications in cloud collaboration and remote work.
The MT8000A platform is now available with two software upgrades:
The downlink option supports RF tests using 1024QAM, increasing receive-side throughput. The uplink switching option enables real-time antenna path switching, allowing more robust performance under changing signal conditions.
According to Anritsu, the solution is intended to meet the growing need for accurate and flexible test environments as mobile data traffic rises and new 5G technologies move toward deployment.
