DS Automobiles integrates ChatGPT with speech recognition
DS Automobiles is the first automaker to integrate ChatGPT AI software into in-vehicle speech recognition for European customers. ChatGPT is available in combination with the DS Iris system for all models of the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9 series.
From now on, all the knowledge of ChatGPT can be accessed using the DS-Iris system, which is available for all models of the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9 series. The voice-based use of ChatGPT is made possible by integrating the »SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT API« software into the DS-Iris system.
This enables a whole new dimension of interaction: for example, ChatGPT is able to provide on-demand hints about the most beautiful cultural sights at the destination of a trip, list the works on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris, invent a quiz on any topic, or even generate a story for children to entertain them during a trip.
The DS Iris system is activated by the voice command »OK Iris« or the corresponding button on the steering wheel. Voice interaction with ChatGPT then starts safely without taking your eyes off the road or letting go of the steering wheel.
Six-month pilot phase
ChatGPT will initially be offered free of charge for a six-month pilot phase. The function is accessible in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Italy in the respective national language. The offer is initially valid for the first 20,000 applications from customers in the participating countries during the test phase.
Registration must be completed between October 19, 2023 and February 29, 2024. After registration, »SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT API« can be activated and will become available for corresponding vehicles thanks to over-the-air updates - provided they are equipped with the DS-Iris system and Connected Navigation is activated.

The service of ChatGPT in the models of DS Automobiles is based on the version 3.5 of artificial intelligence. This means that all information is based on the information status September 2021. Real-time information, such as sports scores or store opening hours, is therefore not available.
Customer activation process
To activate ChatGPT in their own vehicle, DS customers go to the website es DS Service Store. There, they must log in with their own MyDS user account or create an account. If ChatGPT is available for the vehicle (the DS Iris system is a prerequisite), the service will be visible on the home page after logging in. Now the service can be subscribed in the service store.
Once the service has been subscribed to, the customer will receive an initial email informing them that their request for activation has been considered. The service is then activated via cloud (over-the-air) without the customer having to do anything further. After activation, a second e-mail confirms that ChatGPT is ready for use.
