This saves them the hassle of having to walk over meadows and pastures. The animal owner is responsible for due diligence. When grazing animals break out, expensive accidents can occur, which should be avoided to the greatest possible extent.

To make life easier for farmers, the horizont group has equipped a pasture fence with an IoT module. The company cooperated with Mobile2b. It integrated IIoT technology, such as the pasture fencers equipped with the corresponding sensors, and the SIM cards into the digitization platform.

The sensors in the electric fence device measure values such as battery voltage and fence voltage. If there are deviations from the standard or failures, a push message is automatically sent to the farmer's app.  Even if the device suddenly needs a higher current to maintain performance, the system sends a warning message. Accordingly, the animal owner is always up to date as soon as his pasture fence no longer functions perfectly and can rectify the fault immediately.

Farmers do not have to worry about loss or theft of equipment. The pasture fencers are equipped with an anti-theft device via GPS. This means that users always know where their equipment is.

"On this basis, we can develop further products and digital business models for agriculture and offer them to our customers," says Armin Kühn, development manager at horizont. In the near future, we will also be able to use the App platform to monitor stables via video and manage vehicle fleets.

With the help of a mobile app from horizont group, farmers will be able to save themselves the many inspections of meadows and pastures in future.
