AMS Technologies and Viavi expand partnership for PIC development
AMS Technologies and Viavi have collaborated for many years in the field of optical measurement technology for laboratory and production environments. This partnership is now being extended to include equipment for the inspection and testing of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
AMS Technologies already offers a broad portfolio of solutions for the post-processing and interfacing of PICs with optical fibers - such as PIC polishing machines, high-performance adhesives, and UV curing systems. In addition, the company brings experience in supporting PIC-related projects and advises customers on how to analyze and optimize their production workflows. With Viavi’s measurement technologies, AMS Technologies is now also positioning itself as a leading supplier of PIC test and inspection systems in Europe.
PICs are playing an increasingly important role in applications such as LiDAR, spectroscopy, quantum photonics, biophotonics, defense, and aerospace. They enable the miniaturization of complex photonic systems. For manufacturers, this translates into extremely tight tolerances—and correspondingly high demands on testing technology.
