With the study ID. 2all, Volkswagen is giving a preview of its first e-compact car. The production version is to be unveiled in 2025. Customers can look forward to a range of up to 450 km and a price starting at under 25,000 euros.
The first facts about the ID .2all
The ID.2all is being developed on the basis of the latest evolutionary stage of the modular e-drive system (MEB). The ID. 2all is to be the first MEB vehicle with front-wheel drive. To this end, VW is taking advantage of the high flexibility of its e-drive modular system and aims to set new standards in terms of technology and everyday usability with the so-called MEB Entry.
With the further developed MEB Entry platform, a particularly efficient drive, battery and charging technology is finding its way into the ID. 2all. It has a 166 kW / 226 hp e-machine and is said to have a calculated WLTP range of up to 450 km.
Volkswagen is also placing greater focus on design again. The ID. 2all gives a preview of VW's new design language, which is based on the three cornerstones of stability, sympathy and enthusiasm.
Exterior design - sympathetic face, lots of dynamism and new C-pillar signature: one element of this new design language is the C-pillar design developed for the first Golf. The ID. 2all is the first Volkswagen with a new interpretation of this signature. Other design features of the study: a body that stands clearly and powerfully on its wheels, a sympathetic face, a clear dash of dynamism and timeless elegance.
Interior design - generous, high quality feel, self-explanatory controls: The interior is also based on a clear design and features a high quality feel, a self-explanatory infotainment system including classic volume control and a separate climate control panel. The stowage capacity of 490-1330 liters is generous, surpassing vehicles in higher classes.
The production version of the ID. 2all is one of ten new e-models VW plans to launch by 2026.
Launching this year alone are the new ID.3, the ID. Buzz with a long wheelbase and the ID.7 sedan. The electric compact SUV will arrive in 2026. Despite all the challenges, VW is working on an e-car for under 20,000 euros.
»We are transforming the company quickly and fundamentally - with a clear goal: to make Volkswagen a true love brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to go with the brand overall: close to the customer, top technology and with great design. We are accelerating the transformation to bring e-mobility to the masses,« comments Thomas Schäfer, CEO Volkswagen brand.
»We are transferring the typical VW virtues into the new world of mobility: top quality and workmanship, compelling software and digital services with real added value. Always in focus: the needs and requirements of our customers,« emphasizes Imelda Labbé, Brand Director Sales, Marketing and After Sales.
