The Zurich-based technology group ABB is acquiring the Födisch Group, a manufacturer of measurement and analysis solutions for the energy and industrial sectors. The two companies have now signed an agreement to this effect.
With this acquisition, ABB is expanding its range of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS). The Födisch Group generated sales of around EUR 50 million in 2023 with around 250 employees. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions. Financial details of the transaction, which is expected to be finalised by the end of the year, were not disclosed.
The Födisch Group is based in Markranstädt near Leipzig, where it operates a 3,000 square metre production facility; it has further sites in Germany, the Netherlands and China. The company offers its customers comprehensive solutions for overcoming environmental, testing and certification challenges in various industries from a single source. The Födisch Group's integrated analysis systems support the cost-efficient monitoring of pollutant emissions and are used in power plants, waste incineration plants and the paper, glass and cement industries.
The Födisch Group's offering complements ABB's portfolio of measurement and analysis solutions and expands it to include continuous gas analysers as well as dust and particle measurement technology. The measurement and analysis technologies of the two companies enable reliable process measurements and provide real-time data and insights that help improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
‘With the acquisition of Födisch Group, ABB is strengthening its commitment to advanced continuous emissions monitoring systems, which are essential for organisations today to monitor and mitigate emissions and comply with environmental regulations,’ said Jacques Mulbert, head of ABB's Measurement & Analytics division. ‘The integration of the Födisch Group into ABB will open up attractive opportunities for existing and new customers.’
