Planetarium for the living room:
A 240-year-old planetarium by Frisian amateur astronomer Eise Eisinga inspired Chris de Moor's impressive project. He saw it on the ceiling of a museum and wanted to recreate it in his living room. He spent an entire year working on his project, using six Raspberry Pi Zeros and stepper motors, one for each of the six planets he wanted to power. He recreated the model from the museum with similar colors and mounted the planets on copper rails. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are attached to 3D-printed front-wheel drive cars that run on rails on the non-visible side of the model. The inner planets, Mercury, Venus and Earth, are mounted on dishes. In calculating the orbit of the planets, he used a Java script file. If you also want to construct a planetarium for your living room, you can find the inspiration you need here.
