Advantech officially joined the RE100 initiative on June 28, 2023. Hereby, the company commits to convert half of its energy consumption in Taiwan and Kunshan to renewable energy by 2030.
Advantech also aims to transition entirely to renewable energy at its global sites by 2040. To accelerate the transition to net-zero energy, the company committed to a science-based target (SBT) in 2021 and also set a goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 at this year's meeting of its ESG Committee. Addressing climate change and energy management are also important components of Advantech's ESG agenda. The company remains committed to investing in renewable energy, researching and developing energy-saving products, and developing smart and sustainable applications.
To achieve its goal of using only renewable energy by 2040, Advantech is implementing several measures. For example, the company is dedicated to developing an intelligent energy management system (iEMS). It aims to effectively manage energy demand through the use of an intelligent energy management and operation system. Advantech has also gradually integrated renewable energy into its sites. For example, solar panels were installed at Advantech's Newcastle, UK, office in 2022. In addition, iEMS systems have been implemented at offices worldwide. A solar power plant with an estimated annual electricity generation of 912,000 kWh is being installed at Advantech's new U.S. headquarters, which is currently under construction.
In addition, Advantech has begun investing in a 10 MW solar power plant in 2021, which is expected to power its sites in Taiwan starting in 2024. Advantech Kunshan Manufacture Center in China will also gradually work toward achieving the RE100 target by implementing a green power procurement plan starting in 2023.
