Focus on electric mobility ZF founds new division for electrified car drives

ZF's 8-speed automatic transmission is consistently designed for hybridization. A modular system allows the realization of mild, full, and plug-in hybrid drives with peak outputs of 24 to 160 kW.

From January 2021, ZF wants to turn its two divisions Car Driveline Technology and E-Mobility into a new division. All competencies relating to the electrification of car drives will be bundled there. At the same time, there will be a change in the ZF Board of Management.

With the division for electrified car drives, ZF intends to further accelerate the transformation to plug-in hybrids and electric drives. This should also enable ZF to act even more customer-oriented in this area than before. In the future, ZF will no longer develop driveline components which are exclusively suitable for vehicles with pure combustion engines.

Stephan von Schuckmann, who will be appointed to the ZF Board of Management on January 1, 2021, will head the new division. Since fall 2018, the business economist, who joined the ZF Group in 2003, has been responsible for the Car Driveline Technology division based in Saarbrücken. Prior to that, he held various management positions, including Commercial Director of ZF Lenksysteme Hungária Kft. in Eger, Hungary, and Head of the Global Aftermarket and Small-Series Business Unit at ZF Lenksysteme in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany.

Retiring from the ZF Board of Management as of December 31, 2020, is Michael Hankel, who has been a member of the Board since 2013 and has been involved in the realignment of the Group as well as the digitization of ZF production by introducing Industry 4.0 applications.
