Like a Driver Assistance System Self-tapping Golf Ball

With ProPILOT, Nissan has developed a golf ball that turns every putt into a self-runner.

The concept uses Nissan's ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology, which was developed for driving on motorways with up and down ramps and connects to the vehicle's navigation system to maneuver the vehicle along a predefined route on specific roads. Accordingly, the ProPILOT Golf Ball assists the golfer by following a predefined route to his destination. Players can rest assured that they will reach their destination effortlessly with every putt.

An overhead camera records the position of the ball and hole. When the ball is hit, a surveillance system calculates the correct route based on the movement of the ball and adjusts the movement. The ProPILOT golf ball stays on its own thanks to the combination of sensors and an internal electric motor.

Nissan's ProPILOT golf ball is the latest in a series of concepts inspired by Nissan's driver assistance systems: Previous examples include the Intelligent Parking Chair, the ProPILOT Chair and the ProPILOT Park Ryokan with self-parking slippers.
