OKdo New RaspberryPi Distributor Goes Live

RS Components gets a new addition to its family: Group parent company Electrocomponents launches OKdo, a new global sales and technology company.

The new company, headquartered in the UK, will focus on the distribution of Single Board Computing (SBC) and products related to the Internet of Things. OKdo will primarily address the SBC and IoT segments with all-round services:

Under the motto "Design the World", the company will offer a combination of hardware, software, development support and manufacturing services. This is also intended to remove the hurdles for makers to develop ideas and implement them right through to the finished product, but also to specifically address B2B customers.

"OKdo is proof of our passion for innovation," said Lindsley Ruth, CEO of Electrocomponents. OKdo will build on existing relationships with leading SBC companies such as Arduino, BeagleBone and Raspberry Pi. The distribution of these boards will gradually be transferred from RS Components to its new sister, OKdo explains. RS Components has been one of two "master distributors" for the RaspberryPi. The Electrocomponents group also manufactures some of the Raspi products.

OKdo's partners also include products from ARM, NXP, Broadcom, Intel and SEEED as well as emerging technology start-ups such as Zerynth and The Things Industries.

The new global website (www.okdo.com) goes live in seven countries: the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the USA and Japan. OKdo also has a global sales team to support business customers. OKdo's project portal is designed to help brokers make contacts and share ideas, while entrepreneurs and industrial designers benefit from professional support, including manufacturing, prototyping and a free cloud-based IoT development platform.
