Sensor+Test 2018 »New Fixed Date Will Be established«

Sensor+Test 2018: Rund 8000 Besucher und knapp 600 Aussteller.
Sensor+Test 2018: Around 8000 visitors and almost 600 exhibitors.

Sensor+Test took place at the new date at the end of June for the first time. It did no harm to the fair. The number of visitors remained the same, the number of exhibitors increased slightly. The date is now set.

With around 8,000 visitors, the fair maintained the previous year's level and reported a new ten-year high with 591 exhibitors. Of these, 40 percent came from abroad - the fair is increasingly gaining an international face. The end of June is now set, AMA Managing Director Holger Bödeker confirms.

From AMA's point of view, in addition to the solid figures, a better distribution of visitor flows and a longer stay at the stands speak in favor of this. »We are convinced that the new date will firmly establish itself in the industry's diaries,« Bödeker continues.

AMA Innovation Award with Two Winning Teams

This year, the innovation prize was awarded to two development teams. The group headed by Dr. Richard Fix of Bosch Sensortec was awarded for the»BME680«, a highly integrated 4-in-1 sensor module for CE and IoT applications. It consists of pressure, temperature, humidity, and MEMS gas sensors. Up to now, no mass production processes were available for gas sensors.

The Endress+Hauser development team led by Dr. Pavo Vrdoljak and Dr. Marc Schalles of the TU Illmenau has developed a self-calibrating thermometer for process automation. The»itherm TrustSens TM37x« corrects measurement deviations automatically and without the need for feedback via an integrated reference element. This significantly reduces the calibration effort.

The total prize money of 10,000 euros will go directly to the developers in equal parts.

The special award in the category »Young Companies 2018« also went to two development teams. The team around Dr. Matthäus Langosch (CeLaGo Sensors GmbH, Saarbrücken) won over the jury with a thin-film strain gauge. The team around Houssam El Moutaouaki (Senvisys GmbH, Saarbrücken) wins with the development of an efficient protection of level crossings by vibration analysis.

2019: Special Topic Process Automation

This year's motto of the fair was networked measurement technology. The focus next year will be on sensors and measurement technology for the process industry. The trade fair will be accompanied by the GMA/ITG conference Sensors and Measurement Systems.
