About half of IBM's sales are already generated with »Strategic Imperatives«, i.e., Analytics, Cloud, Mobile, Security, and Social. Today, customers use solutions and the knowledge of employees in completely new areas as compared to just a few years ago. This creates high demands because in a rapidly developing digital economy the knowledge requirements are constantly changing.
On the one hand, this development presents challenges and, on the other hand, opens up major growth opportunities in all areas of the company, especially in the service business. In particular, the growth areas of Global Business Services around Industry Platforms, IBM Watson, digital IBM interactive services, and Blockchain now require more employees.
IBM has announced that it will hire up to 2,200 new employees in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland over the next three years. The expansion of the IBM team is a clear commitment of the Corporation to the IBM German, Austrian, and Swiss (DACH) market. And it also confirms the investment in the strategic growth topics AI, Cloud, and Industry Platforms. Therefore, the planned hiring process will focus on applicants with core competencies in the areas of artificial intelligence, data science, consulting, architecture, and IT design in new technologies.
