Over the past five years, Brose has only supplied mid-engines for electric bicycles. Despite the highest torque and practically no pedaling resistance, bicycle suppliers shied away from the costly system integration. Now everything is available from a single source.

The automotive supplier Brose has already been offering electric motors for pedelecs for five years, but found it difficult to compete with strong system suppliers such as the market leader Bosch, even though its drives were technically superior. The motors were characterized above all by quiet and low-vibration operation, freewheeling without pedal resistance when the drive was switched off, and a high torque of 90 Nm.
Now, for the first time, the Coburg-based family-owned company is presenting its specially developed »Brose Drive System«: various drives, displays and the battery can be used flexibly as individual components or combined individually. The result is precisely configurable e-bikes for the most diverse requirements. Bicycle manufacturers can thus use a complete drive system with coordinated components without having to invest in their own development.
 

With its mechatronic expertise, production know-how and high quality standards from the automotive industry, Brose develops and manufactures drives for e-bikes in Berlin. Brose now also offers its own displays and a powerful rechargeable battery.
The heart of the new system is and remains the drive. The various models in the Brose Drive product family are tailored to the various applications of cyclists: The harmonious Brose Drive C for the city, the efficient Brose Drive T for trekking up to the Brose Drive TF, which supports speeds of up to 45 kilometres per hour. The Drive S is designed for sporty use - for example in electric mountain bikes. New: The Brose Drive C, S and T drives are available with either an aluminium or magnesium housing. The magnesium version makes the drives smaller and 500 g lighter.

New: matching cockpits and batteries

The newly developed Brose displays »Allround«, »Remote« and »Central« are precisely matched to the drives and also tailored to the different needs of cyclists. Intuitive and ergonomically operable, the design is either functional, minimalist or easy to read.
The Brose Drive System is completed by the specially designed Brose »Battery 630«. The power pack is quickly rechargeable, light, compact, robust and stores 630 Wh of energy. Thanks to a patented holding mechanism, the battery is securely fastened even in the event of strong vibrations and is nevertheless easy to remove.

Premiere at the IAA 2019
