Viscom's X7058 system, on show for the first time here at productronica, is of particular interest to EMS companies that must manufacture and test complex assemblies of the highest quality economically and cost-effectively.
The new AXI system’s specially designed 3D X-ray sensor ensures optimum contrast and excellent image quality. With 100% top and bottom side 3D-inspection every detail of the entire assembly is scanned several times by powerful line-scan cameras. The heart of the X-ray technology is a sealed microfocus X-ray tube with up to 130 kV/390 µA. 3D reconstruction is performed on the basis of planar computed tomography. Even larger electronic assemblies, up to PCB size 22“ x 20” (optional 30‘‘ length) can be reliably inspected.
The particular advantage in terms of cost effectiveness is fast multilevel inspection in just one test process. The system has an automatic software-based separation of top and bottom (Placement Level Separation). Without this feature, the components on the top and bottom would overlap and thus make reliable fault detection impossible during X-ray. In this way multilayer assemblies mounted on both sides can easily and reliably be inspected for all typical SMD faults by operating personnel Thanks to its sophisticated handling concept, the X7058 is also extremely fast. A multi-chamber system and double gate ensure that assemblies can be moved thru the system simultaneously, thereby reducing handling time to a minimum. When this is combined with Viscom’s FastFlow concept unique short thruput times are achieved during inspection. The operating software vVision ensures intuitive operation and simple test program generation. The X7058 thus offers the same user interface as other proven Viscom AOI systems. On this basis, traceability concepts can be easily realized.
