Short-range wireless networks (SRWN) are an increasingly popular discipline, as they allow an enormous number of new applications for ubiquitous computing by the use of low-cost, low-power, but flexible and mobile wireless nodes.

ZigBee promises to be the major standard for short-range wireless networks. It is endorsed by the ZigBee Alliance, a consortium with currently more than 300 official member companies, including six of the world's top ten semiconductor manufacturers, both as Alliance members and producers of ZigBee silicon.

Today, system designers can choose from a large variety of products, which are already available in good quality, with attractive pricing, and mix and match their solutions. However, they will soon find out that the generic approach of IEEE802.15.4 and ZigBee allows not only a good adaptability to the target, but also an extremely large design space with a big amount of design variables.

The ZigBee Developers’ Conference is a platform to learn about the actual and future status of the ZigBee development, to get to know hardware and software products, and to get acquainted with the development process.

After the great success of the first two European ZigBee Developers’s Conference in June 2007 and in June 2008, the ZigBee Alliance will hold their 3rd European ZigBee Developers' Conference (EuZDC) from June 30 to July 1, 2009 at the NH Hotel Munich-Dornach (Germany).

It is organized and run by the German DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK in cooperation with ELEKTRONIK and the Steinbeis Transfer Center Embedded Design and Networking at the University of Cooperative Education Loerrach.
