Design Proving and High Speed Manufacturing Test of ZigBee enabled devices
ZigBee-based technologies such as those seen in sensor networks and home automation applications, are poised to see robust growth over the next few years as the demand for wireless personal area network (WPAN) services increases.
As a result, chipset and equipment vendors of these WPAN devices will be looking to produce high volumes of their designs in order to meet market demand.
The ZigBee protocol is itself based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Therefore, it is during the design validation as well as production phases that manufacturers will be looking to test their devices for standard compliance. However, medium to large-scale manufacturing itself brings up several unique test challenges such as the need for quick validation and the ability to maintain device throughput volumes.
SeaSolve Software, Inc. attempts to address these challenges by developing standard-specific manufacturing test solutions for 802.15.4-based devices. SeaSolve's approach to production testing emphasizes the automatic and sequential execution of various transmitter and receiver tests at the PHY and MAC layers. These tests include the measurement and verification of various parameters for standard compliance. As part of its commitment to customers, SeaSolve provides both standalone test applications tailored to clients’ requirements as well as APIs that can be incorporated into their production test approach.
